Privacy Policy
CPLocation (Android) · Last updated: July 21, 2026
1. Introduction
CPLocation ("we", "our", or "the App") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have regarding your data.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Location Data
- We collect your precise GPS location when you grant location permission.
- If you select "Always Allow", location is collected in the background so your friends can see your position even when the App is closed.
- If you select "While Using the App", location is only collected while the App is open.
- Your location is only shared with users who have mutually exchanged location codes with you. No location is shared without your explicit action.
2.2 User-Provided Information
- Display name or nickname you set within the App.
- Location codes you generate or enter.
2.3 Automatically Collected Data
- Device type and operating system version.
- Device identifier — used to create and identify your account within the App. No registration or login is required.
- App usage and crash diagnostics (used to improve stability).
- Advertising identifier (Google Advertising ID) and related device/technical information — used to serve and measure ads. See Section 6 (Third-Party Services) for details.
3. How We Use Your Information
- Creating and identifying your account using your device identifier.
- Providing real-time location sharing between users.
- Displaying your location on the friends map.
- Showing historical route data, nearby friends, and zone alerts.
- Displaying and measuring advertising (see Section 6).
- Measuring app performance and marketing attribution (see Section 6).
- Providing and managing optional subscriptions (see Section 6.1).
- Improving app stability and performance.
4. Location Sharing — How It Works
Location sharing in this App is consent-based and bilateral:
- You generate a unique location code and share it with a friend.
- Your friend pastes your code into the App and clicks "Share".
- Only after this mutual exchange does location sharing become active.
- You can stop sharing at any time via Settings → Permission Management.
5. Historical Route Data
The App stores your location history to display route playback. Historical route data is retained for 7 days and then automatically deleted. You may request earlier deletion by contacting us.
6. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services that may independently collect data:
- OpenFreeMap / OpenStreetMap — for map tile rendering. No personal data is transmitted to these services.
- Reverse Geocoding Service — for converting GPS coordinates into place names (used in route history). Only coordinates are transmitted; no user identifiers are included.
- Google AdMob — for displaying and measuring advertising. AdMob may process your advertising identifier and device/technical information. Ad content is limited to a general-audience (family-safe) rating. See Google's advertising policies.
- AppsFlyer — for marketing attribution and measuring advertising effectiveness. May process device and advertising identifiers and event data. See AppsFlyer privacy policy.
- Google Firebase — for analytics and crash reporting. May process device identifiers and usage/event data. See Firebase privacy.
We do not share your friend connections or approved-contact location data with advertisers or analytics providers.
6.1 Subscriptions
The App offers optional auto-renewable subscriptions that unlock premium features. Subscriptions and payments are processed entirely by Google Play. We do not collect or store your payment card or billing details.
7. Data Retention
- Real-time location data is stored only for the duration of an active sharing session.
- Historical route data is retained for 7 days, then automatically deleted.
- Display names and location codes are retained until you delete the App or request deletion.
8. Your Rights (GDPR / CCPA)
If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or California, you have the right to:
- Access — request a copy of your personal data.
- Deletion — request that we delete your data.
- Portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format.
- Objection — object to processing based on legitimate interests.
- Withdraw consent — revoke location permission at any time via your device settings.
- Advertising choices — reset or delete your advertising identifier at any time via your device settings (Settings → Google → Ads).
To exercise these rights, contact us at: cplocation_ad@126.com
9. Children's Privacy
CPLocation is designed for use by families, including parents and children. The App may be used by children under the supervision and with the consent of a parent or guardian.
We do not knowingly collect any personal data beyond what is necessary to provide the location sharing service. Location data is only shared with users who have mutually exchanged location codes — a process that requires active involvement from a parent or trusted adult.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has shared location data with an unauthorized person, you can revoke access at any time via Settings → Permission Management, or contact us at cplocation_ad@126.com.
10. Data Security
We use industry-standard encryption (HTTPS/TLS) for all data transmitted between your device and our servers. Location data is stored on secured servers with restricted access.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through an in-app notification. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
